Last post

This is a farewell post from me.

Since my last post at Easter this year my husband, best friend, and travelling companion, John, has passed away.

It was very quick, a blessing for him, and we farewelled him with a celebration of his life in Whakatane on July 1 2019.

Our caravan and towing vehicle have been sold to a lovely couple from Tauranga, Keith and Paula. I hope they travel many happy kilometres, and make the most of every day making memories, just as we did.

PS. I’m sharing this sad news to those of you who may have wondered where we had gone to.

I’m blessed to have a lovely, caring, wonderful family, but I do miss my John. We were married for 49 years.

Thanks for following along on our journey.

  1. Joy,

My heart goes out to you and your beautiful family. I’m very sorry for your loss. It’s been a pleasure to share in your journey, and an honor to have gotten to know John.Thank you for inviting us along. May memories of your adventures bring you peace. Sending strength and love.

  2. Really sorry to read this Joy I have also enjoyed reading your posts and looking at the photos that you have taken. I remember that day at the Hamilton Motorhome show when you recognised Sarah and I was hoping that one day I could return the recognition somewhere on the road. All the best for what follows

    1. Thank you. The purpose of this last post was simply that – to let the people who we’d met along the way, and who had followed our journey, know why it has come to an end. It seemed fitting. Make the most of every day. Memories don’t die, and I’m blessed to have many.

  3. This is indeed sad news. We have enjoyed following your blog very much and were missing your regular posts. Thanks for taking us along on your journey while you have been building happy memories. Cliff and Judy.

  4. Oh my gosh I’m so so so sad to receive this email from you 😪 my husband and I have followed your trips and copied them to a T! Your stories, photos and info you supplied were fantastic and they would have taken so much time to compile and post. The last trip we did of yours was through Manukau heads down to Port Waikato. We haven’t done your Taranaki journey yet because we were saving it till end of September/ beginning of October in time for whitebait season! We are so sad for your loss. God bless you and take heart that your’s and John’s journey together has brought us much excitement and anticipation of places to explore. Love be with you 💕

    1. Thank you so much for your lovely words. You are very kind. It means a lot to me that you enjoyed following our travels and I’m so glad to have inspired you. I’m very grateful that we got to do what we did, and I’m creating photo books from my blog so that I can easily revisit the memories, and it’s giving me something to focus on.
I wish you many happy travels. Thank you for connecting via our blog.
